Sarah Jane and her companions are back for a second season.

Having lost a core member of the group there is a bit of a rush to introduce someone new to the team, who also happens to be a girl across the street. I did feel that this was a bit rushed but she fitted in well with the team as she was VERY similar to her predecessor. This season consists of several two parter episodes, there are no singular ones, and brings in some new foes as well as an old foe or two.

I rather enjoyed the twist to the Pied Piper story, that it was in fact an alien but that he feeds not on the fear of the children that he steals but of the parents fear of loosing their precious child (a fact I can easily understand, being a parent myself). There are some good episodes, there was a two parter that I honestly can't remember (I had another marathon) but I just didn't enjoy it, however the episodes where Sarah Jane goes back into her past, saves her parents and changes the future was really well done and kind of left me wishing that she had managed to work it out so she could keep both.

Another great series, lots of fun to be had.

Sarah Jane Adventures is a fantastic kid's show, and a spin off from Dr Who. It introduces your kid to the world of Dr Who without all the death. Okay, so people do still die, but there is a lot less of it and it's never as gruesome as Dr Who or Torchwood. This season saw the introduction of a new family, on the street. Rani a young lady who dreams of being a journo like Sarah Jane, also joins the world saving team.

I really liked the addition of Rani to the team. She is a much better actress than the girl who played Maria. Plus she has a great presence in the team. All of the younger actors seem to come into their own this season which is excellent. The aliens get more and more challenging too.

One thing I noticed, was that Sarah Jane's character started to get a bit too soft. She let her guard down a heap more than in the first season. Whether that is due to the influence of her new young friends, I'm not sure. She makes some rookie mistakes in several episodes. I cringed at one or two episodes in particular and couldn't take her seriously.

My daughter on the other hand loved every episode and regularly burns through 6 - 8 episodes on a Saturday morning. She just adores the show, the battles and the funny creatures. I love that she is sharing in a world that I grew up with, and that's magic in itself.
