You're All My Favourites product reviews

Mummy Bear and Daddy Bear reassure their three little bears that each is equally special to them. But the little bears start to wonder: do their differences - mean they are loved less? In the end they are satisfied that they really are all their parents' favourites.

I have always loved Sam McBratney's best-seller "Guess How Much I Love You." One day while pregnant with my second child I was browsing the kid's section of our local bookstore I discovered another book of his "You're All My Favourites." Both of these books had been illustrated by Anita Jeram so had the same soft look to them. I bought it and started reading it to my daughter and unborn child although they were both too young to understand sibling rivalry.

I am planning to buy this book for my nephew's second birthday as he is due to become a big brother around that time. Like the other book this is about a parent's love for their child. The bear cubs fight over who is their parents' favourite. The parents respond, as the title suggests, they are all favourites because of their individual qualities.

One of the best things about this book is that both the father and mother are telling the children they are special. In this day when so many children come from broken families and the book publishers have gone P.C. so often fathers are excluded from children's books. Thankfully many children have two loving parents and it great to see the traditional family unit represented.

This is a great story to read to your young ones to prepare them for a sibling's arrival or when one child feels that they are not getting their far share of love.

"You're All My Favourites" is written by a winning team, Sam McBratney and Anita Jeram. This same team brought us the loveable "Guess How Much I Love You", which was read over and over again at my house. So popular is it, that I got two copies of it at my baby shower. So when I saw this book in the book shop, I knew I had to get it once my daughter stopped being an only child. I had a while to wait, but now seemed like the appropriate time to get "You're All My Favourites".

The book tells the story of three little bears who ask their parents the awkward question of "who is your favourite kid?" Its something we have all wondered at some point. I know my brother and I use to talk about it a lot. So for me, I really wanted to make sure both of my children know how much they are loved. I was already using a lot of the comforting sort of language with my eldest. "You are my favourite first born girl, baby is my favourite second born girl".

We sat down to read this today, for the third time. Even though I have personally read this a lot without the girls, I always tear up. My voice goes all crackly and I have to force my way through. I'm such a sap, which my girl knows! I liked the bears names in this compared to "Guess How Much I Love You", where their names are a real mouthful. I liked the loving family atmosphere and it helped us relax into a loving snuggle as we read together. My daughter adored the pictures and especially finding all the hidden insects and birds through the pictures. She gasped with delight at the detail which I appreciated too. Another beautiful and sweet book by McBratney and Jeram.
