Deltora Quest 3.2 - Shadowgate product reviews

Deltora is a land of monsters and magic...

The Four Sisters, evil creations of the Shadow Lord, are poisoning Deltora and starving its people. Lief, Barda and Jasmine have found and destroyed the first of the Sisters. Now they must find the second, hidden within the mountains that border the Shadowlands itself. And they know that only the Dragon of the Emerald can help them.

The Shadow Lord is now aware of their quest. Deep in the Shadowlands, he plots their destruction. Hidden enemies and trickery await as the companions travel towards the Sister of the North and its terrible guardian, the dread place called Shadowgate.

This is the second book in the third Deltora Quest series, we're following Lief, Barda and Jasmine to Shadowgate as they attempt to defeat the Second Sister and free the Dragon of the Emerald.

This was an enjoyable continuation to the series with likeable characters. As in the first it was fast paced enough to maintain interest (particularly for younger readers) but not so fast that you would feel like parts where missing. I love the way readers are engaged with the story through the use of the illustrations of the puzzles and codes that our young heroes need to solve in order to find and defeat the Second Sister. It adds an extra element to the story, especially fun for those of us who love solving puzzles!

Even reading this as an adult I once again found it a nice, fun, light and enjoyable read. Now hoping that I can get my hands on the last two in this series so that I can find out what happens!
