I was lucky enough to win this book from the amazing peeps here at KIWIreviews so thought it was only fair we review it. My son loves it and I am a huge fan too, Gone are the days where you get tired of reading boring old one liner books. This is quirky, quick witted and entertaining for the whole family!! I especially love the little rhyming words! Definitely buying a few more in the Kiwi Corker series!

A well written, retold story, with a New Zealand theme. Pictures are interesting, children could have fun finding and pointing to various objects in the pages. This would be a great book to read to pre-schoolers and first year at school. For self reading would be ideal for ages 8-10 year olds as some of the words would be difficult for a younger reader.

The Mayor's Flash New Clothes is a humorous adaptation of the classic The Emperor's New Clothes. The pictures are fun and in my daughter's words "funky". Especially when the Mayor thinks he is parading off his Flash New Clothes down the street when he is actually doing a cheeky streak! There are bits and pieces of kiwiana throughout this book too.

The Mayor of Waikikamukau gets the shock of his life when he realises he has been scammed. This story is very cleverly told. It rhymes throughout and has illustrations that match the mood of the page. Very well done!

This adaptation is a winner! I will be recommending this to others.

I also like the fact that in the series of books, the authors of the original stories are given credit in the book.

Product reviews for listing 5444: Esau the Paw
Author: Chris Gurney

Product image for Esau the PawEsau the Paw was a very cool cat. No cat was fluffier, be sure of that...

But what happens when long-haired cats' coats get too matted to brush? Yep, they get clipped, much to Esau's embarrassment - and disgust!
