Probably the best fun the younger members of my family have had in years! It took a bit (OK a lot) of hassle to unpack this toy mainly because of the huge number of wire twisties and the way they were all bound up on the back. In the end it was faster and easier to just get a pair of wirecutters and go a bit crazy on them from the front.
Once we got it out of the packaging it was pretty simple to set up. The batteries go in, the feed belt gets loaded with 25 foam darts, the belt gets origami'ed into the ammo box and the end gets shoved into the breech. For anyone who's seen more than 2 Aliens, Rambo or Arnold Schwarzenegger movies will find this easy to figure out. LOL Icon
The batteries give a fairly good life if you dont abuse the hardware. Of course that would make this about as much fun as watching pasta boil. Get it out in the back yard with the kids and go have some fun! We invented a great game. Get 6 kids, hand each of them a dart tag gun with no darts. Draw a circle in the middle of the lawn and put 3 kids at each end. In the middle of the circle put a bucket with all the darts. Sit up on the porch with this beauty loaded and ready to go. Anyone who gets hit by a dart no matter who fired it, has to go back to their end of the yard and count out the first multiplies in the times-table that matches the number of darts they got hit by. So if they got slapped by three darts, they have to count the 3 times tables.
The adult with the 'big gun' gets to be sniper and referee both. It was a great way to blow away an afternoon that was both fun but also educational. The gun does pretty well under a heavy workload but if you are not careful you may find the belt stops feeding. I found it a good plan to very gently pull on the end as it came out of the breech. Too hard and it will jump a few links and you'll miss out on firepower, too gently and you'll find it still jams.
Not too sure about the price but it sure does beat the other junk you'll find sitting next to these on the shelves at your local big red [name withheld] store.

Firstly the unpacking of the Nerf gun was pretty difficult, like lots of toys. There were just so many ties to undo and plastic to take off. So that took about 15 minutes which was quite annoying to say the least.
Next comes the assembly. Mostly this was quite straight forward with extremely good information in the manual that came with it. The only trouble we encountered with assembly was which way to put the battery pack, that did have us stumped.
When we got the Nerf going it was awesome and the whole family had a blast on it(pun intended). Another small problem we had was the on/off switch. We would turn it on and it was a bit sloppy and would slowly turn itself off again. Not sure what we could do to fix that other than cellotape it on.
We felt that the Nerf was a really safe toy. The bullets were hard enough to fire but soft enough to shoot each other with. There are no rough edges that could hurt so we were happy with that safety aspect.
The Nerf fires really well and the bullets go a good distance.
One feature my eldest son is quite excited about is that you can buy the other Nerf guns and they can be used together. Apparently the parts of this Nerf and others can attach together.
Even though the Nerf needed 6 'D' batteries which were costly, we did find that they lasted really well.
All of our children found the Nerf easy to use and their ages range from 10 down to 4.
So all and all, we found the Nerf to be awesome with just a few encountered problems. Not sure if I would pay $99.99 dollars for it though.
