Fly-Away Ladybug product reviews

This is a very popular book. The Ladybug has dangly legs and goes on a journey through the forest.

Fly Away Ladybug takes baby along on Mama Ladybug's flight through a colourful world of flowers and trees and sparkling raindrops, all the way home. An easy-to-hold handle lets your baby take Mama Ladybug along on other adventures, too!

Lamaze has such a lovely array of toys and soft books for young babies, they are always so eye catching and well presented making them so loved by everyone who is lucky enough to receive one of these. I have come across the Lamaze Fly Away Ladybug several times now both as a Early Childhood Teach working primarily with the under two's but also as a parent, my daughter received this as a gift when she was first born which I was rather excited about as I knew what a great book/toy it was.

This book is made of a soft fabric which is perfect in many ways it can be put through the washing machine for a proper clean, it is easy for babies to turn and hold and it doesn't scratch their delicate hands and face like many board books can sometimes do, so you can rest assured if you need to step away from your child for a moment that it is safe to leave this book with them.

Each of the books pages feature a crinkly texture inside of them that makes crunchy, crinkly sounds when touched it also has a squeaky push button that squeaks when pushed. Throughout the book there are a variety of other textures for young babies to touch and feel such as sparkly, glittery raindrops, bumpy ladybug wings and pm pom feet which dangle from the bottom of the pages. The character sin the book are delightful and friendly and the pages are full of beautiful bright colours.

The story is about a ladybug who goes off on an adventure and discovers lots of neat things along the way such as sunshine, rain, flowers, trees, grass and rainbows a whole world of new things! Although there is a story written throughout the pages it is easy to read with just a few words per page which is ideal for reading to such a young child.

A great book loved by all children who are lucky enough to get hold of it, would make such a lovely gift.

This book has a crinkly substance in every page, and I initially though this would be overwhelming for my 5.5 month old. I was wrong, he loved scrunching it, and would do so for up to 10 or 15 minutes at a time. The handles could also be used to tie it to a cushion and he could look down on it from his jolly jumper and jump on the crinkly pages which he found very amusing. The handles and the beautiful red and black on the cover seemed very visually appealing to him too. I liked the fact that this babies book had words in it as I am not good on making up stories and it gave me a starting point when talking to him about the pictures. The dangly legs however where of no interest to him and caused only frustration to me when he had it in the car seat or buggy and I was trying to deal with buckles. These could be removed. The handles, although soft, could be used to attach this toy to a buggy, cot or car seat with some plastic links.
