Not 100% sure about this one because of its size. It is small enough that it wont hold anything significant in terms of equipment unless you have one of those dinky little toy cellphones or digital cameras but it could prove useful for storing your car keys in if you head out on a boat, which is exactly what I tried it out with. Sure enough, with it looped over my neck I managed to lose my footing and take an unexpected swim. I lost my favourite penknife out of my shirt pocket, as well as my generic ballpoint pen. Because I dont like to risk choking I had all the string unwound and so this was sitting quite lose around my neck. It came free when I went under and would have gone south if not for the large volume of air trapped inside keeping it afloat. Awesome. I would have been quite stuck without the keys safely locked inside. For those with the toy cameras and phones, you can rest assured they would have remained safe in the same situation too since there wasnt a drop of moisture on the keys when I opened the case. Tighter than a duck's, erm, yeah, you get the idea. Dont know how much they cost in NZ but whatever it is, it will probably be cheaper than the cost of replacing whatever you store in it. Just to be a bit stupid with the test, I took my keys out and stuffed it with tissue paper (which would easily show up any water) and tied it to one of the spare ropes, which I then tied to a mooring clamp at the rear of the boat. Threw the box overboard and slammed her into full throttle. Much bouncing, skipping and under-surface skimming later and I hauled the box back onboard to check it out. Yup, still dry as ever. So this could be something worth looking at if you enjoy the odd bit of waterskiing or going out on a seabiscuit. Of course, you're mad to be doing that in winter, but come summer you would be smart to have a couple of these ready for your fun days on the water whether you are in the boat or behind it.
