The Younger Gods product reviews

As the time approaches for the Younger Gods to take their rightful places in the world...

The attacks of the dreadful insect queen known as the Vlagh have been repelled in three of the Elder Gods' realms. Now, only the land ruled by the Goddess Aracia remains for the Vlagh to attack.

The Creatures of the Vlagh have become to canny for the old tricks and pose an even bigger threat. And the Goddess Aracia herself is out of control - she craves worship and hates the idea of being replaced by a younger God when her time comes to an end.

The Land of Dhrall has never before been in such peril.

I love David Eddings and his books, He puts a sense of realism into his work that few other writers seam to be able to and this book is no different.
The Younger Gods is book four in a series and so if this is the first book you have picked up it will be a good read but some of whats happening and some of the character relationships won't make sense.
With a story based around an island nation ruled by 4 elder gods, their up and coming replacements and a battle with the Vlagh a bug like entity in the central wasteland, this book takes a unique look at gods and their ability's to look after their realms, the way the people of their island react with them and the rest of the world.
As the main story is set on the island of Drall there isn't a need for a huge set up to the series or a lot of movement around a world so the story seems to move faster and more fluidly.
A highly recommended book in a brilliant series.

This was the first Eddings book I had read and I was looking forward to it, as I have heard great things about his books. I found that this book was slow to start, but that may be an effect of not having read the previous three books.

This book got good for me about half way through. The action picked up pace and some new characters were introduced. There were several good twists and turns in the plot to stop it from plodding along in a predictable manner.

This series provides a very interesting take on Gods and how they run the world around them. This book not only follows the war against the Vlagh and her mignions (nasty bug-like creatures) but also the change over between two sets of Gods as one set prepares to sleep for 25,000 years. The interactions between the people and their Gods makes for some interesting reading.
