From DreamWorks Animation comes a surprising tale about growing up, finding the courage to face the unknown... and how nothing can ever train you to let go.

What began as an unlikely friendship between an adolescent Viking and a fearsome Night Fury dragon has become an epic adventure spanning their lives. Welcome to the most astonishing chapter of one of the most beloved animated franchises in film history: How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.

Now chief and ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, Hiccup has created a gloriously chaotic dragon utopia. When the sudden appearance of female Light Fury coincides with the darkest threat their village has ever faced, Hiccup and Toothless must leave the only home they've known and journey to a hidden world thought only to exist in myth.

As their true destinies are revealed, dragon and rider will fight together - to the very ends of the Earth - to protect everything they've grown to treasure

How to train your dragon: The hidden world is the third and final instalment to the how to train your dragon series and it is a fitting conclusion to such a well-animated story. Without giving too much away this movie is about another enemy who is a threat to dragons and it causes the main characters to seek out a safe haven for dragons that they believed was a myth. Over the course of the movies, we have come to see the development and growth of the main characters Hiccup and Toothless and it is very evident in this movie just how far they have come from the original film. Where the previous two films have been a lot more focused on Hiccup this movie shifts the focus more to his counterpart dragon Toothless and it is wonderful to see more interactions with him and seeing how he deals with certain events as they unfold.

It was great to see the strong relationship between Hiccup and Toothless and how much they have bonded and flourished throughout the series that it makes the tense and emotional scenes all the more impactful because you really feel for these characters and connect with them as they have been through so much over this timeframe. This movie tackles some of the hardest decisions these characters have to make out of the whole series and it really packs a punch which my youngest son will vouch for as he has cried both times we have watched this movie. The music in this film is spot on and very fitting to the scenes and the animation is so smooth and flawless which is so noticeable in a character like Toothless who doesn't speak much but you can see all his emotions through his face. The CGI all through the movie is visually stunning and full of diverse colours.

Overall this is a fantastic movie that teaches kids good values and how to deal with difficult situations that may arise. It is a very satisfying conclusion to the trilogy and it has also been left in a way where if they wanted to the story can be expanded further in the future and again without trying to give too much away it really is a bittersweet ending to such a great story. If you were a fan of the previous two movies or the television series then this is a movie you definitely need to see and I rank this as one of my favourite animated films.
