How to Hide a Lion Gift Edition Board Book

Price : $14.00

How does a very small girl hide a very large lion? It's not easy, but Iris has to do her best because mums and dads can be funny about having a lion in the house. Of course, Iris can't hide her lion forever. But when he is finally discovered, the whole town realises how brave and kind he really is - just like Iris always said.

A heart-warming story about a very special friendship, with a wonderfully heroic ending.

I really enjoyed this book called how to hide a lion by Scholastic. I was excited to get to review it as its hard to find nice bright board books that will hold the attention of younger children. I have a 19 month old and a 4 year old and both really enjoyed the book. My 19 month old was drawn into the pictures and I could tell by his smiles and pointing at each picture not to mention the raaaaar that went along with it every time he saw a picture of the lion.

My 4 year old on the other hand was more interested in the story line about how the wee girl was going to get the lion inside and to hide it from her Mum and Dad. I found the story line to be quite entertaining for a child's book. I really like the simplicity of the pictures and also the bright colours that are used throughout the illustrations. I found that the pages were not cluttered with too many pictures which really made you look at what was going on.

I think the price of the book $14 is quite reasonable for a decent board book and I would personally pay this. I think this book would make a great gift also.

I picked to review How to Hide a Lion, as I was drawn to the simple yet effective illustrations on the cover. I also loved the fact that it is a board book. Massive plus with young children as they can read the book themselves without tearing the pages.

The book is beautifully illustrated with fun pictures the whole way through that really help capture and tell the story. The story is basically about a lion who goes to town to buy a hat, the townspeople are all scared of the lion and chase it away. It run's to a young girl named Iris' house looking for a place to hide. She welcomes him into her home but eventually struggles to keep him hidden from her parents. So he ends up hiding in town and stopping a couple of burglars proving that in fact he is a nice lion and not scary at all. He ends up receiving the hat he wanted to buy and everybody was happy.

I like how the story has a happy ending and shows Iris' accepts the lion no matter what everybody else thought of him. What a fun book to read with my young children, they all really enjoyed it and sat through the story even though it is quite long for a board book. Personally I think the book suits a young audience of 2-5 years old.

The book is supplied by scholastic and I see it's available to buy for only $14 which is a really reasonable price for a board book. This is definitely a book we will be adding to our daily reads as it's a good read for all. I enjoyed reading it and the children enjoyed listening. Thank you KIWIreviews and scholastic for the opportunity to review How to Hide a Lion.
