The single varieties of Taylors Gold pears and Coxes Orange apples join forces in this crisp but sweet beauty. With fruit grown in the South Islands sunny Nelson, it's an old favourite for a damn good reason! Aroha. Made with Love.

I think as you get older you learn that not all juices are made equal and no longer do you seek the cheapest juice, you seek the nicest juice, and this is what I was looking for when I requested Aroha apple and pear juice to review.

The old-school artwork on the label was really appealing and I was excited to read that the juice was made with Taylors Gold pears, which are my absolute favourite. The day was hot so I decided that I would sit outside and have the juice with ice, my first taste of the juice was quite surprising because I had expected a overly sweet juice and luckily I was proven wrong, it was crisp and refreshing and thankfully not too sweet! The main taste was apple with only a hint of pear which was a little disappointing, but it still hit the spot.

Coming from the South Island I am so pleased that I have now been introduced to the Aroha (Love) range of drinks as I am keen support them in the future. In fact over Easter weekend I found these drinks at the local cidery in Central Otago while we were there on holiday, and I was able to sample other flavours in their range which needless to say were just as nice. I would recommend this juice to all lovers of fine juice.

Being a juice lover in our household has its advantages and seeing these up for review I jumped at the chance! I have a young baby so an always on the look for a nice refreshing non alcoholic drink to drink especially over the party season (Christmas/new year).

The first thing that drew me to the bottle was the label. Nice simple colours but with a bold picture that stood out. I esecpailly liked the name of the company "Aroha" which means love. To me this fits in perfectly with it being a hand crafted juice and the name is really fitting! before I opened the bottle I turned it up and down a couple of times to make sure the flavours of apple and pear were nice and mixed it. I found the screw too super way to open which is a bonus as there is nothing worse than having a juice you want to drink right now, but have to spend ages fiddling with a lid to get into it.

As soon as I opened the bottle I took a sniff and it took me back to my childhood of Christmas holidays in central at the orchards collecting fruit! The apple smell really took over and gosh it smelt good I couldn't wait to get into it. I had had it chilling in the fridge for 24 hours so it was nice and cold. The first mouthful was refreshing, not overpowering at all and the apple and the pear went well together. I must admit for me I thought the apple flavour really shone through and there didn't appear to be much of a pear taste. If it was it was very subtle compared to the apple. However, this didn't stop me finishing off the bottle without even sharing a drop!

All in all a fantastic drink and is something I can see myself purchasing again in the near future.

I drink a lot of juice when out as a alternative to alcohol so am always keen to try brands that I have not tried before. One of my favourite juice is apple juice so was keen to give this flavour a go although was a little unsure about the pear as this can sometimes be quite gritty.

On opening the bottle this had a strong apple and pear smell. I took the first mouthful and was surprised at the smooth texture of this. No gritty bits and a definite taste of both the apple and the pear. It was not too sweet. I liked that stevia had been used as a sugar rather than artificial sweeteners. I tried a bit watered down as felt it was not quite a thirst quencher that I would like and found by adding water it did just that. Flavour was not lost too much but I found this quenched my thirst a bit more.

The bottle is a lovely shape which is well labelled with all that you need to know. I liked the little story that shares where the fruit is from, although not necessary really lets you know that this product is NZ and natural. This is definitely a juice I would choose again either at supermarkets, cafes or bars. I am actually looking forward to finding where to purchase more and also try other flavours.

Now this is something I thought I would love. Looking at the label it looks so exotic and inviting. The big juicy red apples and the shapely pear looked like heaven on earth. Reading the Natural Ingredients list was fantastic and I felt like I was going to be healthy for a change. The colour looked like marvelous freshly squeezed juice. The bottle is made of class so felt more like an adults drink and reading that it is crafted by hand I just knew it had to be made of love. I had been holding out all day to have this after dinner tonight.

I eagerly undone the lid, which was a nice and easy screw lid and took a giant smell which reminded me of being in an apple orchard and slowly took my first sip. Not quite the loving relationship I had hoped for. Because of the shape of the bottle found I was not getting enough of a mouthful so poured into a glass and took a drink and I have to say I am rather disappointed. I feel like there is something missing it just wasn't the sweet taste that I was hoping for.

I gave my husband a sip and he said it was alright but agreed there was definity something missing. It had a heavy 'after taste' feeling about it and something did not quite sit right with me I am afraid. Looking at it I am not quite sure what it is but I can honestly say I will no longer be purchasing again. It took a while for me to drink and I do admit it grew on me slightly but just not enough.

As soon as I twisted the lid and lifted it from my bottle of Aroha Apple and Pear Juice I was greeted by an amazingly delightful aroma of crisp juicy apples, there was certainly no way of mistaking that this drink contained lots of real apple juice! There certainly was no stopping at just one mouthful as the taste of the drink was simply to hard to resist, though I must admit I was kind enough to share some of the juice with our visitors to get there views on it, though like me (and not surprising really) they loved it as did I.

The juice comes in a glass bottle and has a simple label to it, which is a natural off white kind of colour which to me suggests that the juice is made from real fruit juice and is good for you, the font is eye catching, yet easy to read and has a picture of exactly what the bottle contains - pear and apple. There is a little ditty to the side of it which tells you a bit about the Aroha company and where the fruit comes from, being made in Canterbury it means that buying this product means you are supporting a New Zealand made product and being made from all natural ingredients, containing no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives it's got to be pretty good for you.

Though the apple taste and scent jumped out at me I must admit that the pear did not however this is usually the case in most drinks which claim to be pear flavoured as it is not the strongest flavour out there, though after several mouthfuls and letting the taste sit in my mouth for a minute or 2 I could pick up a hint of the pear. The sweetness of the juice is pretty spot on not to sweet and not to tart, it's just right, and served over ice makes a great drink for a hot summers day, which would be perfect for any BBQ.

One of the better apple juices I have tried, and the price of $3.20 is definetely worth the purchase if I was to come across these in a shop one day! If you love apple juice it's definetely worth giving it a try.

Now this was something special, and I am so glad I decided to put one aside for my own review. Sweet without being too sweet, rich and deep flavour, and the smell when I cracked the bottle just screamed "real apple juice" at my nose. The first sip was a delight, and every subsequent sip was as good as the first. I find that rare for juices - my taste buds tend to get bored easily. ^lol

I could easily taste the apple, and was pleasant surprised to find I could also taste the pear underneath it. Pear is such a mild flavour, especially when paired with apple, that usually it is little more than a 'bulking agent' but in this case the selection of fruit varieties meant the pear is definitely there.

About the only other thing I can say about this juice, apart from 'You really should try it!' is that I was very pleased top see that can sugar and stevia are used as sweeteners, rather than some mix of synthetic or processed sugars. I have done more than a little damage to my dentals with years of drinking beverages with all the wrong sugars in them, and in quantities that mean every time the doctor tells me I don't have diabetes is a big surprise.

Overall, a wonderful wee drop, and one I will certainly be buying any time I go somewhere that stocks it. The clear bottle with a stunning label stand out from the pack on the supermarket shelves, and fit right in with the other up-market juices in the mini fridges prevalent behind the counters of swanky cafes. You can't miss it, and my suggestion is you make efforts to ensure you don't.
