Yum yum yum is all I have to say about this product. No one in my house is specifically gluten free but we do love pancakes over the weekend so I was excited to be able to review this product.

I began to read the packet and was surprised to find the amount of ingredients listed that I needed to add to it in order to make it. I was thinking (before I looked at the instructions) that it may have just been a just add water type mixture but this wasn't the case. Lucky it was shopping day the day before so we had everything we needed. The only upside of having to add so many of your own ingredients is that you know its not chocka full of preservatives to make it "last"

I went about measuring, pouring and mixing the ingredients together until I got a nice consistency and threw it into my hot pan. It didn't take long to cook and before I knew it breakfast was ready! We added some bacon, banana and maple syrup (my fav) to the pancakes and enjoyed our breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised at how light and fluffy they were as normally gluten free recipes end up being dense, gluggy and not very nice so this was a huge change.

We made up one batch which was plenty for 2 adults and a toddler. I think we got around 8-12 smaller sized pancakes which in my opinion would be great value for money with the size pack we got to review.

I am excited to be able to now have this permanently on the grocery list to buy again and I think I will even give it a whirl and see if I can use the same sort of mixture to make up some corn fritters later in the week.

We love eating pancakes and pikelets in this house because they are such a quick easy thing to make and taste good especially with dashings of cream and jam or maple syrup. So when I saw this pancake and pikelet mix come up for review I was very keen to try it!! I am not at all gluten free nor is anyone in my house and I have never enjoyed gluten free breads and the like that I have tried so was a bit unsure whether I would enjoy this mixture but I was pleasantly surprised.

The mix is easy to use with very clear instructions you had to had more than I expected with having to add your own sugar, butter, milk, baking powder and eggs so luckily I had all of the above in the house. From reading the packet what I gather this mix is a mix of different types of gluten free flour so you are adding yourself the rest of the ingredients. I didn't have gluten free baking powder so used normally baking powder and they still worked out just wouldn't be completely gluten free.

I made the batch according to directions and it made 6 or 7 large pancakes which was quite a good amount for 3 of us who were eating them. Along with being an easy batter to mix up they cooked really well and were easy to flip to turn. We served them with maple syrup and banana at the kids request and they were really yummy. Everyone really enjoyed the pancakes and it was hard to tell they were gluten free although I did think they may of been a bit heavier than a traditional batch.

Making pikelets again was a breeze and the pikelets themselves went down well and were enjoyed. I found the pikelets kept well for a couple of days in an airtight container aswell so there aren't any problems with making your pikelets in advance. I would probably get only a couple of days with a standard pikelet mix too. All in all I was impressed with this mixture and would buy it again.

My husband loves to make pancakes on Sunday mornings for the kids and I and they always go down a treat. He usually makes them from scratch and they are delicious but I wanted to see how easy/different it would be to use a ready made mix so I requested to trial this Bake Your Own - Pancake, Pikelet & Waffle Mix and see how that compared to our usual method.

The packet was nicely designed and looked to be waterproof. I thought this was going to be a "just add eggs and milk" type of mix so I was a little surprised that we also needed to add baking powder and sugar, it seems that the only ingredient in this mix is really different types of gluten free flour so I'm not entirely sure why it's marketed as a Pancake, Pikelet and Waffle mix apart from the fact that it has cooking instructions for those on the pack.

Anyway, we cooked up a batch according to the instructions and were surprised by how many it made, around 9-10 decent sized pancakes. Not only did it make a good quantity but we didn't end up with any burnt ones and they were really easy to flip over. I've never tried anything gluten free before so didn't really know what to expect but to be honest they tasted pretty close to how our normal pancakes taste except possibly a tiny bit heavier.

I've heard that gluten free food can be quite expensive so I was quite pleasantly surprised by the cost of this considering how much you actually get. We made a whole batch of pancakes and still had a heap of mix left to make more.

Overall, I don't think I would buy this product again purely because it seems to just be gluten free flour and we have plenty of flour at home without the need to buy flour specifically for pancakes.

Our house is like grand central station at the moment with visitors coming by all the time so it was a godsend to be able to make something yummy that I can freeze and have at a moments notice. Of course we had to trial this product first just to make sure it cut the mustard.

I was kind of expecting it to be ready made but was not phased too much when I read the requirements. A very easy to follow recipe and all products I had already so did not need to do a mad dash to the supermarket. Eggs, Baking Powder, Sugar, Milk, Butter and Vanilla Essence - to be honest I have never used Vanilla Essence in my pikelets before so was curious to how they would taste.

The mixture was lovely and smooth and I did not need to sift the products which was fantastic. I liked the idea of sitting aside for five minutes while I got the cream ready. The pikelets cooked like a dream. Although I was surprised they did not lift as much as I would of liked. They were very flat and reminded me of a Pancake then a Pikelet.

Once they were cooked and cooled the four of us trialed one with nothing on them - and found was a little bland for my liking, still nice though. I added jam and cream to them all and we ate half of the batch and I frooze the rest. I loved how many I managed to make and was really pleased with the end result. Everyone really enjoyed and both girls where asking for more after they had quickly disappeared. For the price I found it to be very good value, my husband is very interested in trialling the Waffles so that will be next on the agenda.

I was expecting something more when I saw that this was a pancake mix. To be honest, from the photo I couldn't tell whether it was a dry product, or a wet product (Note: this product is effectively Gluten Free flour), even the waterproof packaging made it difficult to tell.

But either way, this product arrived and I immediately could tell it was a dry product. Checking the back for the recipe, I saw that it obviously still required milk, eggs, vanilla, and butter. This is fair enough as excluding the wet products would increase the shelf life or the product significantly. But I was disappointed to see that the recipe required "Gluten-Free Baking Powder". The pikelets and pancakes had the same amount of baking powder available, so it would have been nice to have all of the dry ingredients included.

Either way, I already had some other brand baking powder, so I was able to make the mixture. I'm lactose intolerant so I used soy milk instead of regular cows milk.

I was quite surprised at how well the mixture cooked. the addition of the melted butter in the mixture must have been the cause, as the pan required no additional lubrication, and the pikelets I made neither stuck to the pan nor burned, which I was very pleased with. They took very little time to cook, there was no mess in the pan, as they were very easy to flip.

The pikelets were a little dry, which could be a consequence of using soy milk, but they were still light and spongy. Served with some bananas and some Barker's Blueberries & Cranberries Jam Spread, this was a delicious breakfast, if a bit large. With my first attempt at making a batch of pikelets, I was surprised at how many the recipe created. While it was a great quantity for a family, as a single man, it was far more than I needed.

The price is good for a Gluten-Free product, but would be nice if it was available in a larger portion, as this wouldn't last through many batches.

I was lucky enough to be given some of this pancake, pikelet and waffle mix to review and it was good timing as I was about to holiday at the beach and not only would pancakes be a perfect easter morning breakfast, but I was going to be with my sister who has a gluten free diet, so it was nice to be able to cook something that she could eat too.

I didn't really bother reading the packet before going away as I knew there would be a well stocked pantry there, however I kind of assumed I might just be adding wet ingredients such as milk and eggs. Luckily for the well stocked pantry though as it turned out this is just a flour mix and I needed to add quite a list of ingredients including baking powder and sugar which I assumed might be already in there. However I can understand about the sugar as it gives you the option to make them savoury if you wish.

We actually ended up deciding to do pikelets and we made a double batch, but it turned out to be heaps and heaps! And there is more mix left in the packet - maybe enough for about half a batch. Everyone who tried them agreed that they were delicious and you wouldn't know they are gluten free.

Because we made heaps, we saved some to eat over a few days and after storing them in the fridge they weren't so fresh any more, but they heated up in the microwave beautifully. And it was great to have them available to offer to another gluten free friend who popped in for a spontaneous visit.

Because there is just a flour mix, it is something that suits those of us who don't have much of a clue about GF cooking and don't really know how to make things taste as good as they can. I'd certainly consider buying this again if I needed to cook GF pancakes or pikelets, but my sister wasn't so convinced it would be worth it for her as she's more confident mixing GF flours herself. But we certainly both agreed it made absolutely delicious pikelets!
