Review #13301 - Dated: 11th of January, 2015 Author: mizim |
I watched this with my mother, a friend of hers had given her a copy of Chocolat and so we sat down together to watch it.
Chocolat is about a woman and her daughter who move into a very small town, very church heavy, and they've done so shortly before Lent. She opens up a chocolate shop which highly irks the priest of the church yet starts to change those in the village, then gypsies arrive and as Lent draws ever closer, can the town unite, be reborn and is this her and her daughters new home or shall they be on their way again?
I love the idea of someone coming in and shaking things up in ways people don't expect, everyone grows and learns something new about themselves. It is a stellar cast, all do a great job and I really enjoyed all the characters, it was easy to imagine that there is a small town like this out there that needs a slight change, needs to be shaken up a bit. Some of the food that was made.. drool... it is times like that I wish I could just reach in and grab some to taste.
This is a lovely movie, romance, drama and sinful chocolate, who could ask for more?
