Jack links sweet and hot beef jerky would have to be my favorite go to snack. Full of flavor as much as it is full of protein this snack packs a hell of a kick. The taste is spot on being that it is not too overly sweet and the the spice factor isn't to over the top hot. I love a snack that you can just sit back and chew and it retains its flavor right to the moment you swallow it. It has such a great blend of herbs and spices plus the smoky taste to make this product stand out above the rest. The texture is soft yet chewy and is the only downside I can criticize for this jerky. It feels somewhat too artificial to me as compared to the likes of other jerky's or biltong's but it is easy to move past this as the taste advantages the texture. Also a plus would have to be the size of the pieces as the are quite generous and chunky. Overall I would defiantly recommend this jerky as its taste is very enjoying and the kids love it as much as I do. A great treat for all the family and such a convenient snack whether your on the run or just relaxing at home. |

Jerky is something that I haven't had often so I didn't really have much to compare Jack Link's Sweet & Hot Beef Jerky with. I did like the idea of having access to a high protein snack that I might be able to have in my handbag for the occasion when I needed something o keep me going in between meals. My initial reaction was that it was rather rubbery. There was a definite taste of heat in my mouth as I ate it. As I made my way through the pack, I did find that there was varying amounts of flavour and tenderness with each piece I tried. One piece wasn't at all rubbery and the next piece was very rubbery. Even though I did find it quite rubbery, I found myself enjoying the pack and even eating the contents as if they were lollies! The best thing is that I didn't feel the same guilt. Each bit takes a bit of work and therefore I would be less likely to eat it quite as quickly as lollies or chips. I think that my children could enjoy something like this for part of their snacks in their lunch boxes. I would need to consider different flavours as this one would be way too hot. It is something that I really should consider for my handbag as it would be so much better for me that the other snack options I usually go for. |
