Norman Price, Fireman Sam, Penny, Elvis and the gang from Pontypanty have been a big part of my family for the past 5 year. We have owned almost every DVD there is to own. I was pleased to be able to review this selection, which is stated as the 'best of' because many of our disks have seen better days and I was very keen to see what the producers considered to be 'the very best'.

The Fireman Sam series are a huge hit in our family, my 6 year old still likes to watch it while my 3 year old is obsessed. The catchy theme song along with the awesome animation makes for easy watching. What I like best is that Norman Price, who is the main character is always getting into trouble and learning a lesson from the community (usually the fire fighters). It emphasizes the important value that it really does take a village to raise a child.

Each episode highlights a different 'danger' whether it be fireworks, stranger danger or a fire related issue. Although Norman is usually the central character, it does change from time to time and we see other children (and adults!!) doing dangerous things which shows that everyone can make unintentional mistakes. My sons often mention little lessons about fire safety learnt from the DVD and are always on the lookout for Fireman Sam in his truck when we are out!

I love that this animated series is so life-like and engages children whilst being educational. I would fully recommend this DVD in particular as it is a great range of episodes to engage any child. I love that I don't have to be watching it with the boys, as I know the content is great and the children won't get any wrong ideas when watching - something that you can't rely on with some other 'children's' series.
