My family love salami and I was rapt to get to try this one out because it is preservative free, has no artificial colours and it is gluten free which is a must in our home. The other plus is that they are 100% meat and totally made in New Zealand. All very good points.

The package has two salamis in it which is awesome and is easy to open and easy to read information. Like the other salami we tried I do not like that they are so dense and heavy and hard and chewy. I actually had dufficulty eating them because of the pressure on my gums when chewing it lol I am assuming they are dense and heavy because they are 100% meat.

This mild beef salami has a really nice flavour both heated or cold. So it is perfect added to a meal or pizza or cold with crackers and cheese. The very very dark look of this salami might be off putting to some people though. These salamis go a very long way also which is fantastic. Salami does not last long in my house lol Unfortunately the $12 price range is to much for me and I would not personally go out of my way to search this out and buy it.

I enjoy a good garlicky salami, so was rather curious about the taste for this salami and eagerly awaited its arrival.

It comes sealed in a vacuum packed bag, two big pieces linked together. Cutting some off I knew it was going to be a little tough, but it's not the cutting that matters, it's the eating. Giving this a try I did note that it was a little chewy for my taste, but I was game and kept going. This has a subtle garlic taste (I'd prefer stronger, but that's me and my love of garlic) and tastes nice enough but I didn't get the wow factor from it. I also have to say I'm not a fan of meats which have big chunks of fat in them (at least I assume that's what the big chunks of white were).

Having not been wowed with the salami on its own, and in a mood for pizza, we thought this the perfect time to use some of the salami. I put minced garlic, garlic mayo and tomato sauce on the base, some sliced salami on it (with tinned fish for my husbands) and cheese on top, then cook. This salami, when cooked, was delicious and so good in fact that my husband and I simply had to make another pizza with it, to share.

I'm not sure that I would buy this again, but it was gorgeous on our pizza.

This is the flavour I was allocated and I was very pleased indeed. We eat salami and other cured meat products fairly regularly. My husband likes salamis that are peppery and hot. I personally like them to be flavourful but not too hot. So this one in the Del Sujuka - Mild was perfect for me.

When I showed my husband the packet, he commented that it was like two mini salamis wrapped together. He was pretty keen to get into the pack, but I made him wait. Tonight we had pizza and I used almost a whole side of the salami making these. I did my normal double-crusted wrap pizza, with a Rufus Teague sauce as the base, cheese, ham and the Del Sujuka.

As I was prepping the ingredients, my toddler wandered into the kitchen and stole a slice of salami. I saw her, as she stole away with it into the lounge. Next thing I know, she is back and takes two slices off the chopping board. The third visit, she came in and took some and then outed herself by declaring the "cheese" she was enjoying. I ended up having to pop her in her highchair with some of the salami slices because otherwise she would have eaten the lot before it got near a pizza! Needless to say it was a hit with her.

My husband enjoyed his pizza very much and I enjoyed the taste that the salami added to the meal. The flavour is mild, with a hint of garlic. I found it a great compliment with the cheese and sauce. My husband has plans to take the remaining salami to work with him, where I'm sure it will be eaten by the end of the week. Price wise, it's dearer than you might expect. However, you need to take into account the chemical free nature of the product. The fact that it's gluten free as well, adds value. As far as we are concerned, this is another great salami from the people at Delbos.
