Formula is a hard thing to write a review on as it is such a personal choice for each mum to make. I don't debate that breastfeeding will be the best option but for people like me who had problems producing enough milk to satisfy their babies need formula is great. It really is a great thing that science has enabled milk formula's like these to be made that have so much goodness in them that they are as close to breast milk as you are going to get in a substitute. We tried many different formulas before settling on Nurture Gold, it was a bit of trial and error, a couple of the formulas we tried constipated my son and I wasn't so keen on formulas that were not made in New Zealand. After only a couple of weeks of using Nurture Gold my son's bowel movements returned to normal and he was just an all round more settled child probably because he no longer had an uncomfortable stomach. The formula is designed to support good healthy digestion and contains prebiotics and probiotics so it does support bowel health. We have used this formula since stage one and are now on Stage 3 which is the toddler formula for children over 12 months. Our son is old enough now to drink cows milk but we choose to keep him on formula as just two bottles a day contains so much of the iron and calcium his growing body requires. He isn't so keen on the taste of cows milk anyway although we now do use it in his cereal and other food so that he begins to get used to the taste. I have tried the formula and I will say I don't like the taste of it at all it is completely different to the taste of cows milk and the smell is very strong too. With my son having 2 plus bottles of this day the can lasts us at least a week so at $21ish a week it is good value for money as we would probably be spending the same on the equivalent amount of cows milk a week if he was drinking that. I like that if he has a day where he doesn't eat much as some days he can be picky I know he has got some essential nutrients from the formula so it gives me that peace of mind that he has at least something good in his tummy. |
