Tucker   Review #516 - Dated: 15th of November, 2004
  Author: Tucker

To be honest, after having tried GENUINE Nasi Goreng, I must say the promotional hype is on par with the national average B.S. rating of food products. From the half-advertised-size burgers, to the lasagne pulp meals, there is a definite level of over-exaggeration when it comes to the visual representations of the enclosed foodstuffs.

This is, sadly, another subscriber to that doctrine. With it's frankly scary-coloured rice, and it's hidden assortment of veges buried at the bottom in a single, stubbornly frozen lump, despite over-cooking, this was quite a disappointing dish.

The recommended cooking time was 4-5 minutes. After the full 5 minutes at 1100w of full power, the dish still contained a sizable block of ice, containing much of the rice and almost the entire compliment of vegetables and meat-bits. It took a good stirring and a further 4 minutes of full to finally have a thawed-and-cooked meal... creating a skin of crusty, hard rice on top, which had to be lifted free (in a single solid ring I might add) and disposed of.

Overall, the final taste was somewhat bland, and the surplus of rice left it a somewhat texture-challenged meal. I don't forsee me buying this again. Or if I do, I think I will partially thaw it first, to minimise over-nuking it. Despite being filling, it left me rather unimpressed.
