I tried Complan when I was suffering from an illness and had no appetite. I had no energy and was losing weight. Complan was recommended by my mum who uses it when she is feeling run down. I was suprised by the great taste and there were 3 or 4 flavors to choose from. At times when I went to buy a certain flavor and it was sold out I would purchase Vanilla and then buyt a variety of milkshake flavors to add to it (I found nesquik a good brand to use). The Vanilla Complan is gluten free which is great for allergy sufferers. Unlike similar dietary supplement drinks I found this wasn't lumpy and was easy to drink. I felt extra good taking this after exercising. The taste was actually sweet and enjoyable. It would be a great top-up for parents to use who have kids that are 'picky' eaters that lack the vitamins, minerals etc from a regular diet. I would always ask my Dr or Pharmacist just to make sure even though there are basic directions and instructions on the box. I would recommend this to the elderly, pregnant women, anyone who is unwell or just wanting a balanced diet in an easy form. It is nutritious and made me feel 100% better than before I started taking it. It is a great way to keep healthy.

When I was pregnant I had been drinking a special mother's shake but it was discontinued so when I phoned the supplier to ask if they had just changed retailers or where I could find some I was told to try Complan instead as they felt it was very similar. I got some and it was ok, taste wasn't too bad and it did fill me up but I was always feeling like I should be having more, didn't feel right that a drink was more filling than food.

I have tried some of the other flavours, they were all tasty but I haven't bought any since being pregnant as I really did prefer the mother's shake but since I've now been told I need to lose weight and learn to eat smaller meals and more often (not as easy as it sounds as I often feel stuffed by dinner time) I might give it a go again as it can be used as a meal replacement.

I haven't given any to my kids as I would prefer that they have actual food but if they do ask I will let them try and make up their own minds.

When I was pregnant with my first child 5 years ago now, I couldn't eat anything I was so sick that nothing would stay down. One day I had a friend suggest to me Complan, now I didn't think long and hard before saying no it wont stay down and that would be a waste of money. After getting really sick and ending up in hospital I asked hubby to get me some complain just the plain vanilla one he did and brought it up to me.

I made it up and drunk it little bit at a time cause you don't want to be sick, it was good, the taste was great and it stayed down the only thing I could handle , it filled me up too, I didn't feel hungry much and it was giving me what I was needing with vitamins and minerals. I have tried the other flavours aswell and they are also good, my fav would be the strawberry.

My daughter who is Coeliac and loves her smoothies I get her the vanilla one to add to her smoothies this gives her a little more of what she needs, she is 4 and loves it, it is very helpful when I have run out of the berries etc that she likes with her smoothies, its very easy to make even a child can do it. This stuff is great, taste good and whats more you don't need a lot of it to make a drink, you can still add other things if you really wanted to aswell.

I really like the chocolate complan it has such a nice chocolate thick shake taste that you really enjoy and will gladly drink. When I was dieting after having my son I tried a few different protein type shakes to try and fill me up when I was reducing the size of my meals. A lot of the diet shakes are ridiculously priced so this is actually quite reasonable and I feel has the same effect.

What I liked about this was that it filled you up so if you were starting to feel low mid afternoon you could have one of these shakes and it would keep you going until your evening meal. So they really do work and give you that extra energy that you need to keep you going.

If I wanted to use this as my meal at lunch time I would add some pureed banana and yoghurt to it too so that it was even more filling and more of a smoothie type consistency which I really enjoyed. Sort of a weird combination with the chocolate but I really wasn't so keen on the vanilla variety.

The container lasts a while too if you are just having one shake a day, I also don't use the whole 6 scoops because I found it too hard to mix to dissolve all the powder when I used the full amount. I found using 4 scoops I didn't get any yucky powder lumps so that made it more enjoyable and it was definitely still as filling. I would recommend these to people who are dieting or are needing to fill themselves up.

We use complan for my 11 year old. He is on daily medications that suppress his appetite which means that getting him to eat anything worthwhile and healthy is pointless. In fact getting him to eat anything at a major mission in itself. So rather than resorting to force feeding him, I decided we would try smoothies and milkshakes.

So off to the supermarket we went to purchase some complan. Firstly I was rather surprised at the cost, almost $20 for a 500g box, wow! I do recommend you buy it from the supermarket though and not from your local pharmacy, as the price can increase to almost $30. We had a choice of two flavours: vanilla or chocolate. Naturally master 11 chose chocolate.

After reading the box thoroughly, if this stuff does what it promises then I can see why they get away with charging so much. For each serving, which is apparently a full meal, you use 6 (yes 6) scoops of powder, using the supplied scooper in the box. I thought that maybe 6 scoops was a bit much and as he was also going to be having icecream and half a cup of berries per shake, that we would reduce the scoop amounts to just 3. This of course meant the box lasted twice as long.

We tried it as a standard drink first without adding anything extra. It mixes very well with the milk, and makes a very nice thick drink. Very flavoursome, and as I also tried it, I can say it does fill you up. We now use complan in my sons diet regularly in the evenings if he has struggled to eat during the day. We have since tried the vanilla flavour, and although chocolate is his favorite the vanilla is very nice too. We do try and buy it when it is on special somewhere though, as the price still takes me by surprise everytime even though I know how much it is lol
