I was delighted to win the Stamp Art book from Klutz in a KIWIreviews competition. This is the sort of book I often look at in shops and want to buy.

In the days before I had children, when I had time and space, I did a lot of cardmaking and other crafts. Looking at this book reminds me of how much money I have spent over the years on stamps. If I had had this book and learnt this technique of stamping I would have saved myself thousands.

The kit (as it is so much more than a book) contains a block with 64 stamps. The idea is that the stamps can be used in endless combinations to create almost anything. The black stamp pad, which I found a tad too small is also in the kit. When you have finished stamping you can colour in your designs with the three double ended coloured pencils, giving you 6 colours.

The book contains instructions and ideas. Many of the pages can be stamped directly onto, making it a complete package. If you wish, you can add your own paper, felt tip pens, coloured stamp pads etc. to extend the kit further.

Stamp Art is the ideal gift for anyone wishing to start stamping. It is hard to put a recommended age of it. I could see primary school age children and adults enjoying it just as much. It would be a great rainy day activity to do with the kids especially if you found something you could use as addition stamping blocks.

It was my great pleasure to get to review Klutz's Stamp Art by Kaitlyn Nichols today. My daughter and I had a busy morning, and this afternoon felt just right for a bit of creativity. I have a history of craftiness which includes stamping, embossing, and all those other paper crafts. Getting into stamping and paper craft can be a very expensive thing. You have to buy inks, and then stamps. And the stamps you buy are one purpose only.

In comes Stamp Art, a pretty amazing, versatile kit that allows you to make your own stamps. You get 64 different stamp shapes, a clear block to mount your stamp pieces, plus ink and double headed coloured pencils.

We got the front of the book open, and started to pull the stamp pieces of the plastic contact backing. This took a fair amount of time, and my thumb started to feel very tired towards the end. The stamp pieces are very well stuck to it, and it almost feels like you are in danger of ripping the rubber. However, they are very hardy and we didn't rip or tear any of the pieces.

Once they were off, my daughter went mad with creativity. She made a bowl of hot noodles, a tree with lots of leaves, a series of turtles swimming in the ocean, a TV, carrots growing in the ground. The list goes on. You are only limited by your imagination. And if you get stuck for ideas, the book is full of them in every kind of theme.

Clean up was a bit tough, but a baby wipe on hand would easily get all the ink off things to allow you to pack up. I honestly can not wait to get a go of the book myself. But I suspect I'll have to put my little girl to bed before I get a look in.

Well this is pretty awesome!! Miss Five and Miss Three were straight into this. The set comes with 64 rubbery stamps that you peel off and place onto the plastic block before pressing into ink and stamping onto paper. We had a bit of difficulty pulling the rubber stamps from their plastic sheet but once they had been removed once they were easy to re-remove. The kit comes with just one stamp block so I used a small plastic dish and put the stamps on the base of this to give us two working stamp blocks.

We had some extra stamp pads so used those as well for different coloured ink. The kit comes with double ended colouring pencils so once you have created your design you can colour it in.

The book is fantastic as it has loads of examples of designs, places to try out your stamps and pre printed colour background pages to do different designs on ie a jungle scene, underwater scene etc. Because everything you need is in the one book this can be used in the car or on a plane easily. Or to keep young ones amused waiting at the airport, hospital, other siblings dance classes etc.

The kids loved this but so did I!! Sets like this are just brilliant for rainy days and as long as you can find a few extra blocks (ie plastic containers etc) then the kids will be happily amused for hours.

I would definitely recommend this as a gift or as an addition to your rainy day activity box! Brilliant. Thanks very much Klutz!
