This is a pretty cool book for kids. It introduces 10 animals from 3 rainforests around the world and also teaches where they fit into the food chain.

Each animal is detailed with where it is from, it's life cycle and some interesting facts about them (seriously? A queen ant can live for up to 14 years if not scoffed by something else?!). At the bottom of the right hand page is their life expectancy if not cut short and a hint as to what might prey on them. This was a pretty cool way to engage children.

While probably a little old for Miss 4.5 we still handed over the book for the acid test and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Granted she couldn't read it but she did enjoy reading it with us and guessing what animals ate what. It also gave her a chance to ask lots of questions. She's since been eager to impart her new found knowledge on Mstr 1 who would just like to hit the pages happily.

I can see this being a good resource for school projects for some time so it will be gaining a place on the kids combined bookshelf. Being a series freak I'll be looking out to the add the other titles to the collection.

Make sure you check out the Giraffe weevil, that thing is freaky! Meanwhile, I'm going to see if I can get my hands on a Pitcher Plant.
