My nearly 3 year old daughter saw this box and immediately wanted me to open it for her. She is a HUGE Play-Doh fan!

She couldn't wait for me to put it together. It was very easy to get all the pieces to fit together, a huge plus for an awaiting and eager toddler. Once we were all set to play, it was really easy to show her what to do, and she could do most of it by herself straight away.

The Monkey is very bright and appealling. However when it came time for my daughter to push the tail down to clap the hands together to make particular molds for the monkey, it was relatively easy but when she got it nearly all of the way down, we heard a snap. She wasn't putting too much force on the toy, but as a consequence the monkey's hands no longer align up with each other to do the molds that attach to the hands. We were both very dissappointed in this because it happened in the first two minutes of playing with the product.

On the other hand when it came time to make hair and a tounge for the monkey, she found it quite hard as she needed to put quite a bit of pressure on the head to get it to go all the way down. She has since got used to the two different techniques and can play with it more successfully.

The product was packaged very well. The only downside is, once the product is set up, it isn't made to be taken apart again, so it no longer fits in the box. It looks like it's too tightly clipped in so i dont want to try and pull it apart in case i break it further.

The Play-Doh colours are very bright also, and even though it's hard for children to get the lid off (a great safety feature), once opened the smell of the Play-Doh took me back to my childhood years!

Overall i think it is a wonderful toy that helps with a childs creative side, but i think the tail needs a bit of tweaking for better durability.

I tried this out on my almost 3 year old son. Being very into recognising and naming various animals at the moment, the minute he saw the bright orange monkey on the front of the packaging he was straight into it and didnt need any persuasion, so thumbs up to the nice bright packaging as it clearly appealed to his age group.
Once we got the playset out and set up he really seemed to enjoy it especially as it was his first experience with Play-Doh, although he did need help getting the lids off the plastic containers that the Play-Doh was in, he also found the extra "bits" included to mold pretend bananas and pinapples a bit hard to attach to the monkey himself, and personally I think the whole molding idea was a bit too much for his age group to grasp. He was happy enough just pressing down on the monkey's head to "grow" hair and a tongue.
All in all a good sturdy toy that wouldnt break easily, although I would recommend parental supervison with younger kids using this toy due to the smaller molding pieces included in it.
