Personally, I always hated geography class... I couldn't tell you where Afganistan or Timaru are located, the best I can do is be fairly certain ONE of them is part of NZ somewhere... so it was with great pleasure I plonked myself down on the lounge floor with my young son and we started to assemble this jigsaw.

Now, as is quite logical, he is MUCH better at jigsaws than I am, and tyically, he's better at geography than I am too. Not that he's above his age, just that I am far below mine. LOL Icon This, however, didn't stop both of us having a great time sticking the world back together, piece by piece. (If only it were that easy in real life, eh?)

It would have taken us about 10 minutes, if we hadn't been stopping and chatting about the various countries, and cross-referencing them in the big atlas to learn extra tidbits about them. Once the jigsaw was back together, we ended up sprawled out in front of the TV watching some stupid 'reality TV' travel show where socially-different families take 'the other team' away on their idea of a great holiday to show them how the other half lives... and in this episode they visted France... now we were eating a chinese dish, in NZ, watching some English couples wander around France... so out came the jigsaw and atlas again as I explained to the little man all about the various countries in front of us... This turned out to be some GREAT family bonding time, and I suspect this won't be the last time we play jigsaws with this one...

Overall, though it lacks any great details, being just a small jigsaw a little larger than a sheet of printer paper, it has all the major and minor countries, forgiving a few alterations due to stupid politcal b/s around the globe. Good to see the younger set enjoying it as well, and seeing how it sparks off their curiosity and puts a bit of spark back into the neurons... was also good to see how it turned crappy television on a Sunday afternoon into a source of inspiration and education... so it's more than just a jigsaw any way you look at it. Well done Hema!
