Long before the Commonwealth of Empires, long before the Dato Bloc rebellion, the Sol Apotheosis Movement created a group of super-soldiers to spread their agenda throughout the galaxy. But something went dreadfully wrong and entire star systems ceased to exist...

Morgan Roche had been an intelligence agent for the Commonwealth of Empires when she turned renegade to determine the truth about a man named Adoni Cane. The answer - that he is one of the genetically enhanced warriors called the Sol Wunderkind - shook the foundations of her world.

Roche is now faced with an even more frightening fact - Cane may not be the last of his kind. A system has vanished, leaving only a terrible emptiness in space. Word spreads across the galaxy that the Sol Wunderkind have returned.

Roche finds herself at the centre of the coming conflict as she struggles to penetrate the layers of deception surrounding the origins of the super-soldiers, and the even deeper mystery concerning the artificial intelligence called "The Box" - an entity that seems to have a sinister agenda of it's own...

Tucker   Review #9 - Dated: 1st of August, 2003
  Author: Tucker

The second book in the EVERGENCE trilogy, The Dying Light is once again a pre-eminent classic in the making. The continuing saga of Morgan Roche and The Box, with a rag-tag crew consisting of an artifically created telepath of extreme power, the remains of a ship's captain wired directly into his craft, a possibly-lethal agent of the very enemy they are trying to discover more about, and a varying assortment of allies and adversaries, this story is just as gripping as the first book.

Through rumour, gossip, stories and myths, Morgan and her team are drawn to a star system that appears to have vanished, leaving only a ragged scar in space-time and a fleet of heavily armed CoE Armada ships to deter unwelcome visitors. With the awesome power of The Box to guide them, the team manage the nearly-impossible, they gain access to the remains of the star system, only to discover the lies and deception are in full force inside the trapped system as well as out.

This book, along with it's precursor, would make an excellent TV series akin to the 'Andromeda' series staring Kevin Sorbo available on DVD currently. Not stunning enough to warrant a Star Trek effect, but worthy enough to possibly be a hit in the making.

Watch this space for the review of The Dark Imbalance, the third book in the EVERGENCE trilogy, coming soon.
