Stunning. Simply stunning.

This book is a visual treat and just begs to be bought and brought home. It can be left on the coffee table or, get this bit - actually used as a cookbook.

Yes, truly. The recipes enclosed within this sumptuously illustrated tome are exceedingly mouthwatering. In fact, I can almost guarentee that most of the stains found within the pages of this book, will be from the pools of drool from the readers well before it ever makes it debut in the kitchen.

The recipes are such that even the most ardent meat eater would have nothing to complain about, and being a vegetarian I have cooked for plenty of meat eaters who complain that a meal cannot be a meal without the addition of some avian or quadrupedal corpse. The avid vegetarian cook will aquire plenty of ideas to further their own cookery skills and extend the epicurian's palate.

For those not interested in food (I'm shocked at the very idea of this ever actually happening), then the stunning photography both of the food and of the outside world is enough to tempt the most jaded National Geographic reader to look at the world with new eyes. World Cafe 2 attracted everyone who saw the book. My work mates wanted to read the book at work, they wanted to borrow the book for a few nights at home, but the biggest accolade I can offer the authors, was my daughter picking up the book and not only 'ooh'ing at the pictures, but actually requesting we cook the meals together. If a book can do this to an eight year-old. Imagine what it could do for you.

The Caldicotts have assembled an impressive book, and if this volume is anything to judge, then the previous volume is a must-track-down copy, and keep an eye out for any future releases by this talented pair of authors.

Incidentally, should you ever find yourself in London, do make a by-line for Covent Garden. Off one of the main drags is Neale's Yard. Nestled in that smallish yard is The World Food Cafe. Having eaten there in the past, I can assure the reader than cooking the recipes in this book is the next best thing to eating at the restaurant.

The straight Ten is thoroughly deserved.
