i found this was too large for my inner toilet bowl. It didnt have a strong enough, pleasant smelling scent to deodorise or neutralise odours. I didnt find it kept the bowl refreshed or cleaner looking after every flush. Its a nuisance for those who are "sick" in the toilet, as its in the way, and inevitably , vomit goes on the harpic max wand. I also find it gets in the way with the general scrubbing with toilet brush as well. I prefer the little hanging clip devices instead. Not very delighted with this product at all. |

Found that black mould type stuff was appearing under the rim as the toilet was not getting a propper clean from this. Bring back the Harpic READY BRUSH and their refills... it was the best product I have used and now can't get it anywhere. |

From the three fragrances on the market (Citrus, Lavender, Aquamarine), my local supermarket only had the Aquamarine on the shelves... so I grabbed that one for the test. After reading the instructions on the back of the packet, I peeled it open and attempted to install it in the toilet. I gave a test-flush and could clearly see that the water was hardly reaching much of the block at all! After much puzzling over it's design, which appears to be quite flexible yet proved quite stiff and unwieldy, I finally decided to pull it out and give it a good bend and reinstall it. +urg+ Big mistake. As soon as I grabbed it, my hands were coated with a squishy, smelly gunk from the main block. However, I gave the unit a good hard bend, to better match the curve of the bowl rim, and reinstalled it. That was 4 weeks ago. This afternoon, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, I dismounted the unit and prepared to throw it away... only to notice that most of the contents were still there! The water hadn't reached very much of it at all. In the 4 weeks it has been in the loo, with 2-4 flushes per day (around 100 flushes total) it had used up less than 20% of it's contents. That indicates to me, that either the design is quite inefficient and wasteful, or the marketing department has hit on a winner by getting us to buy 5 times as many as we actually need! On top of that, I found the strong Aquamarine smell to be quite unpleasantly overpowering in the confines of a small toilet room. Overall, in the end, I decided it wasn't for me, and hurled it away. I felt that even though it was quite cheap, at around $1/week, it really isn't anywhere near as good as the hype makes out, and you'll probably find a block you can drop in the cistern to be far more effective. If you are just after a nice-smelling loo... try an oil burner... or for a more eco-friendly option... just leave your window open for half an hour! |
